The Skeeter Beaters Foundation held their kickoff fundraising event for the
2009 Nets For The Amazon program at The Finish
Line in Littleton, Colorado
in the midst of an icy blizzard.
Having been snowed out the week before on Wednesday March 26th,
the
rescheduled event got dumped on again. However, this time, organizers decided to
go ahead regardless. Thirty seven supporters braved the elements to take
part in the event.
Autographed sports memorabilia, autographed books, vintage comics,
original art, Air & Space Museum passes, truck accessories, and bath and body
products were among the many items donated for silent auction and raffle.
Funds raised at the event will go toward the Skeeter Beaters first shipment of
insecticide
treated mosquito nets for the village of Soledad, Peru scheduled for delivery
the
first week of May this year.
If you would like to contribute to our project or purchase a net to be
delivered directly
to Peru, please contact:

or go to :
www.skeeterbeaters.org/store.htmlThe Skeeter Beaters Foundation is in need of volunteers to assist in
organizing future
fundraising activities. We are planning a Musicians For Nets Night in the
Chicago
area in May or June. We need assistance in getting donations and sponsors as
well as
staffing at the event. If you are a member of a Civic, Church , or School Group
your
help is needed. Please contact us if you would like to help. We can assist you
and your
group in getting started.
Thanks to all of our supporters and friends! Your assistance and kindness
will enable us
to implement our 2009 Nets For The Amazon Program.

UPDATE ON 2008 NETS FOR THE SOUTH PACIFIC
Our goal for 2008 was to ship approximately 5,000 insecticide
treated mosquito nets
to the South Pacific to honor the service of the original Skeeter Beaters.
On March 23rd, 2008, in partnership with Against Malaria Foundation
and
Rotary Against Malaria, a total of 20,000 nets were shipped to the Abau Coastal
region of Papua, New Guinea for distribution in the Amazon Bay rural, Cloudy Bay
rural,
and Aroma rural districts of southeast New Guinea. The Skeeter Beaters
Foundation and
you were responsible for a total of 4,860 nets in this shipment.
THANK YOU to all of our supporters, donors, and friends who
made this possible.
Post distribution photos and videos will be available online in July of this
year at
www.againstmalaria.com/skeeterbeaters and can be accessed by
clicking on the
flag icon to the right of any donation detail.
Your assistance really does work, and really does save lives.
THANK YOU!
